I set one goal and failed to complete it.

Last year, I set a simple goal that I thought would help propel me forward. I took one step forward and that was it. I laid out a very straightforward plan that I thought I could accomplish.

Write and post an article a week for the next three months. Easy enough one would think…..

Shocker, I wrote zero articles after posting that. I did not write at all until almost a year later. Sometimes, when you think you are ready to take a chance on yourself, you end up retreating to what is comfortable even if it is not a place that is good for you.

One thing about being a new writer is that the only one that knew I did not accomplish what I said I would is me. I had zero reads.

“Goals are good for setting a direction, but systems are best for making progress.”

James Clear, Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones

So new idea, while I will still set personal goals for myself my main focus is to create habits or systems and forge ahead.

To be continued…..

A study, published in the European Journal of Social Psychology, showed that the amount of time it took for the task to become automatic — a habit — ranged from 18 to 254 days. The median time was 66 days!
